This past weekend was my first (and last) time at Katra. The music started off very redundant but eventually got better as more people arrived. It is a very small and narrow space so moving around was nearly impossible. The drinks are SUPER expensive ($36 for 3 drinks, one of which was non-alcoholic; and a bottle of water was $5). The worst part, however, came when I was harassed by a bouncer for taking my shoes off. He flashed his light in my face like I was some criminal; and even though I complied with his demand that I put my shoes back on, I was still told I had to leave. Since I had already been there for quite some time, I didn't resist. Even so, as I made my way to the exit, the bouncer (a very large man) forcefully pushed me from behind causing me to fly into the wall! I was so shocked and upset that I called the authorities. The general manager, who I thought would at least reprimand the guy, instead summarily dismisses my complaint. For someone who rarely goes out, I was so appalled by my experience and yet I know that bouncers get away with this kind of behavior all the time. I think it's unfortunate and unacceptable that Katra condones such disrespect and abuse by its personnel.
